Murdered Animal Clinic Worker

Last week, the local tv news reported that a 25 year old woman was found dead of an apparent homicide at the veterinary clinic where she worked.Â Although the story (click here for newspaper coverage) caught our attention because the clinic is only a few miles away from where we live, we didn't think a lot more about it until today. Â

This afternoon the lady who does our biweekly heavy housecleaning asked if we had heard the story and told us that the victim was her cousin's wife.Â I haven't stopped thinking about it for the rest of the day.Â

That is really a terrible tragedy. There is bad news everywhere these days, sad but true. On our local news today they said a local 14 year old male was kidnapped at 3:30 in the afternoon by someone in a van. And a local woman was handcuffed to a pole in her basement by her husband who threatened to shoot her. He kept police at bay for 5 hours and told police he had planted a bomb at his 3 year old daughter's daycare (which he hadn't really but it had to be searched). Yeesh! What is this world coming to?

That is awful and when it impacts someone you know it seems even worse than if it hadn't.

There's so much crime in the world. This one bothered us when we heard that it was so close - then today we heard even more details than were covered in the news story.

What a sad story. She sounds like she was a vibrant person and full of life. It is also a little scary to me because I work at a vet clinic, and I know that they are often targeted for drugs.
