I live in Boston and EVERTHING got all screwed up. How anyone can think that these 'things' look anything like a bomb is unreal. They basically shut down the city and the Charles river. Mayor Mumbles wants to punish who is responsible for this but who do you punish in a case like this? Turner Broadcasting? Or the kids who were hired by the company to put them up? They ended up finding about 38 of them in Boston alone I believe and Mumbles is saying he wants to give 2-5 years per device. How does a company serve time? Do you lock up their buildings? Do you leave the employees inside or let them go?? These are questions I would like to see answered...

Jenny excluded, a lot of people from Boston seem to be very uptight. There is something about Bostonian culture that lends itself to this. Fox's coverage of this was downright hilarious - especially the Shep Smith apology for misidentifying the cartoon characters. I recorded it to watch again.

I laughed for the whole hour I watched Fox. I had to shut the TV off because I couldn't handle the laughing anymore. I also don't think we are uptight as a rule of thumb... I think we are hust very over cautious considering we had two planes leave our airport.

Another example of something being really funny (after the fact) and really scarey. I hope no one thought of the consequences to regular people before it was done.

Three weeks after 9/11 my husband and I flew from Seattle to CA to see our new granddaughter. While we were waiting to board they kept announcing that all luggage left unattended should be considered suspicious. So, as I went to sit down on one of the benches, there was a lone carry-on case all alone. I presumed that it was just some nitwit that had left it, but I got up and got a long ways away.

I don't think that Boston's reaction was overkill, but I think it is a wake up call for those who saw the debacle that they have been reminded (yet again) that we all need to be vigilant. The problem with this is that it just tells the terrorists where to plant the real bombs.

wow, one got away? I saw on the Seattle news that the lady who had one on her sporting good store here in WA had her's confiscated by the police. She wanted it, to sell it on Ebay. Maybe she got it back? :)
