Two old guys wearing the same fashion they wore for decades held down opposite ends of a bench in the Dallas/Fort Worth Airport; neither appeared headed anywhere. They eyed the human herd passing by, and took turns flicking a glance to cut out an approaching passenger for branding with a subdued but withering comment.
The old guys sat cool through the heat of the day, scanning for the choicest cuts, when one mirthfully shook his head in resignation; it was the other guy's turn. A smooth pole of a Texan footed in tooled boots and topped by a large Stetson was strutting through the crowd stirring up little eddies of notice.
Just as the maverick cleared their bench; the old cowboy, held his fire for effect, then sneered loud enough to be overheard.

For whatever it's worth my late father-in-law (a Texan) made a distinction between 'cowboy boots,' and 'western boots' (which all the mall stores sell,)
the cowboy boots wear the BS on the outside.
Big Hat = an ego bigger than Texas, no cattle = little substance.
Though many a texan have small herds or no cattle to brag about -- they best temper that with humility.
This piece contintues the trend of your short works being packed with purpose :)
