The only way America will ever be safe from the violence and terror that rogue Muslim countries export against our brave men and woman serving abroad and into our very own neighborhoods will be for the U.S. to come together as one. Once this is accomplished there is no force on the face of this Earth that can stand against us. The reason we were victors in both World Wars was because everyone stood together against one evil ideal that threaten to rob us of our freedom. I doubt that the President of Iran or any Muslim leader with all of their violent and evil rhetoric would want to confront or clash with a truly united America. What ever our issues are, whether a Republican or Democrat, speak only English or have the ability to speak two or more languages, were born a citizen or immigrated into the U.S the only thing that should matter is that at this moment our freedom and our way of life is under attack. However the is also another thing that must occur if the U.S. is to become the great country we once were and that is for Muslims (in America and throughout the world) to stand up and protest against their leaders that preach it is a privilege to strap on a bomb and use it to murder innocent men, woman and children and then use their religion to justify their evil deeds, instead of sanctioning riots and murder over a perceived slight or someone’s attempt to paint the Muslim faith as violent. I belief myself to be a tolerant and open-minded person and try not prejudge anyone. However I find I am more and more developing a feeling of distrust and animosity towards Muslims. Because of my perceived idea that Muslim clerics refuse to admonish their brethren who use the Koran to justify their atrocities against their own and the rest of the world and that is extremely sad because this is how the flames of prejudice grow and are fed. So I say to all those who wish evil to my fellow Americans and myself, “I will always defend, stand up and fight along side of my neighbor even if he is a Republican

I'm like the majority of people - I HATE this war. I hate it because we were lied to, I hate it because legislation to "protect" us was made with good intentions on false information. I hate it because we are there because of another agenda, snidely passed off as a rebuke for 9/11.
BUT - we are there and for me, that means I have to stand with my countrymen, cry when they bleed and mourn them when they die. I do this, not because I believe in the war or the reasoning behind it, I do this because our soldiers are willing to give their lives for this nation - no matter what the truth is.
How incredible is that? What a huge gift patriotism is and what a massive disappointment to know that it has been abused in this way.
"These islamic fundamentalists do not see themselves as being the bad guy. They do not think they're wrong at all. In fact, they believe they're carrying out a divine purpose. So pure is their faith, so literal their interpretation of the Koran and its teachings that they are willing to put their lives on the line if it means wiping out the "infidels" or enemies against their faith."
Moral equivocation. So did Hitler, Stalin, Mao, Pol Pot, Mussolini, Imperial Japan, Kim Il Song, etc.
"Also before we start picking apart Islam and calling it a flawed religion, let's keep in mind that basically all religions are flawed and we have our own christian fundamentalists who feel as strongly about their faith as muslims do."
When have Christen Fundamentalists advocated that you convert or die, beheaded anyone or demand that you convert and try to force you through use of arms, murder, terror, etc.
This is typical claptrap by those who don't know what they are talking a bout.
"The only way to get to the future is together, muslim, christian, jew, atheist, etc. We have to find a common bond, a common ground and build from there."
We call that American style democracy and we do it fairly well here in the states. Now if we could only get the rest of the world to come along on this experiment with us,,,,
"Christian Fundamentalists don't have to advocate beheadings or the like in order to spread the same message. Abortion bombings, doctors who perform such being killed, hate crimes against homosexuals, etc. All performed by those who claim to be following "god's word" They're fundamentalists the same as those who advocate beheadings and other means of terror are."
These acts are committed by an infinitesimally small fringe element, it is not fair to simply say "Christian Fundamentalists" in such a broad stroke. This is a most common statement that is liberally used, it just kind of annoys my that such a broad brush is used.
"The unity I refer to is not "American Style Democracy" as you so prejudicially put it. If it were we would not only acknowledge people of all walks of life and faiths but would attempt to honor such and our record in that area is sorely lacking up to and including the debacle in Iraq."
I guess I just completely disagree with this statement. This country was founded on religious freedom and I think we have practiced that pretty darn well. Where we have been in error, we have also corrected it. Are we perfect, no.
You can practice any religion you choose in this country without oppression. If you have evidence to the contrary bring it forward.
Take care.
Once united, we are unstoppable. as I asked earlier, are we willing ot paty the price now as we have in the past, sadly I'm afraid not.
Oh yea, thanks for your own "snide" remarks.
You have made some strong statements and all I have done is disagree and ask you for evidence to justify your statements. You have failed to do so in my opinion because you have o evidence to back up your statements. You have not explained your statements at all but have gone on to vilify me, and my crime? I asked you for evidence of your statements. You have failed to engage in furthering the discussion by not providing the requested evidence
You equate "Christian Fundamentalists" with these Islamic Fascists which I disagreed with. I feel the comparison is lazy, as is your explanation of the comparison. The infinitesimally small number of crimes committed by the example you cite is in no way comparable to the crimes committed by these Islamic Fascists.
You other statement "This country is supposedly based on judeo christian principles and as such impedes the so called religious freedom you think we have. Though it's true that we have more freedoms here than in other parts of the world we are not the model country that people try and promote us to be. We definitely COULD be, but we are not there by a long shot The very fact that the whole religious aspect of the iraq debacle is being virtually ignored is proof of this***"
I asked for evidence of your statement and instead of providing it you start acting the "victim" of my "rudeness" and fail to answer the question. You have made it clear you cannot back up your statements with facts or examples so I guess we will leave it there.
