Theme Show on Autism - The VIEW Monday Jan 29th

I wanted to give a heads up for those who have someone on the autism spectrum that this coming MONDAY January 29th, 2007 THE VIEW on ABC will have a theme show on autism. The guest host is Toni Braxton - I read somewhere that she has a kid on the spectrum.

Click on the red heading that says "when to watch" to find out the time in your location. It is a pop up window with a map using a drop down box to choose your state. I know here in Los Angeles it airs at 10 am on ABC, it is on for one hour.

Please note that there is also information being passed around Yahoo groups saying that Oprah is on autism with Toni Braxton. I checked her site and this is the information it states:

Thanks for letting us know! Many, many of us are affected by autism, in one way or another... and there are a lot of misconceptions Recent tragic events here in the suburbs of Boston have brought autism and Asperger's Syndrome into the spotlight. It is of utmost importance for all of us to become educated about this hidden, but likewise often debilitating disorder.

I just did a google search and found out she has two sons, ages 3 and 4 and she was upset that her son was already three when they got the diagnosis. She dedicated a song to him and broke down at a concert a few months ago. Based on this information I would assume the show will be on diagnosis and early intervention, etc. since her child is very young still and they have not had much experience I doubt education would be discussed in depth. Still should be interesting, although I hope nothing negative about autism.

Thanks, Bonnie. As you may recall from my recent Gather entries, our 19 year old is highly autistic. I'll have the TV on in my office and use it like a radio Monday.

Thanks for the heads up, Bonnie.
I will be watching. Good to know that a wide audience will be tuned in. Hopefully it will bring more awareness to Autism and should be informative. I did not click the link to Oprah yet, but everyone knows that whatever she touches turns to gold...hehehe...and if she is on board, then it will be interesting!
