Do you want to see Congress enact a binding resolution against the war?

Well I will start the conversation by answering my own question. I want to see Congress bring the troops home as quickly and safely as possible. At the same time I believe we do need to provide Iraq with other types of aid that will help bring about stability. Namely, we should provide funding for reconstruction. This approach would save America billions and, I believe, be more effective in the long run.

It really will be up to the Commander in Chief to do those things not the congress, as the budget the congress is working on won't be till 2008 and 2009.

I would rather see them send the bill to the president for signing, have him veto it, return it to congress, overide the veto, and make it binding law.

Bush has used that congressional resolution on Iraq, which was created under totally false circumstances, to do anything and everything he's wanted, including launch an illegal and unnecessary war, indefinitely detain US citizens without cause or access to legal representation, illegally spy on US citizens, torture US citizens, and refuse to comply with congressional requests for documentation. It's time to shut this asshole off.

I'm afraid the only binding resolution that would work is the impeachment of bush/cheney.

I want congress to stand strong and united and end this farce called a war. If the funding for th budget is for next year, than it won't hurt the money they need now to keep our troops safe and provided with the equipment they need to follow orders.

I am hoping we are no longer there next year - no where near the capacity we are now anyway....we have enabled Iraq long enough.

The comments today from Senator Lugar don't quite make sense. He said we would appear divided to the world if a resolution passed. The world sees our news- they already know we are divided and debating the subject.

The founders of the Constitution created separate powers for a very good reason So one sector won't get out of control. So yes, Congress, make a statement with a resolution, even if it's just for the record right now. We're expecting Congress to keep a close watch on the President, not be pawns.

I predict the next two years will be uneventful, but full of so called bills for or against this or that..or the other thing...The Democrats, and Republicans will both be too focused on not rocking the boat too much...because of the 2008 election...It will just be two more years of nothing really getting accomplished...Just as it has the last 40 plus years...even the bills to try to control illegal and unethical behavior in congress will all be full of so many loop holes...you will still be able to murder someone, and collect your congressional pension, but not if you are convicted of perjury! If that doesn't show the American public just how corrupt our form of government is, then what ever will? Our so called "democracy" is in need of a two-hundred year overhaul by the American people!

For starters, let's not elect any candidate who voted for the war in Iraq! Also, do not vote for any candidate over 50 years old! We need fresh people in there! Preferably independents who don't prescribe to far left or far right beliefs!

I'm a conservative, but i hate the Republican party now! I truly believe if we actually had a monarchy with someone like Al Gore for the next 10 years...we would be much better off after that period of time...Besides the war in Iraq...our two biggest problems are global warming, and oil consumption...followed by illegal immigration, and illegal shipping of our manufacturing jobs to countries with slave labor...those are all more important than so called military national security...if we don't have a country to protect..then who cares if we have the military might...

Congress already declared war on Iraq...so we are screwed since Bush is the commander in chief..even though my 15 year old son could do a better job than him, and also has a much better vocabulary! Iraq will be a disaster no matter when we pull out...they have been killing each other there for 1000 years! If we leave tomorrow, it will be no better than a year from now...except another 1000 American soldiers or more will have died in vain...The war only set back any peace prospects there indefinitely! We need to completely revamp our election system so that no private money is allowed for election campaigns or for political lobbying. We need to locally elect the best and brightest minds and send them to Washington, and elect our president from that pool of people instead of the small pool of rich elitests that control our whole country...all funded by the people with no special interest money directed to any one candidate...until that happens...our government will be corrupt...anyone can be bought...as we have seen all to often in Washington...
