Empress Audrey wrote an article explaining the difference between hedgehogs, porcupines, and groundhogs in an effort to educate some here on Gather that found it hard to differentiate between the three. I told her that I have a collection of hedgehogs, not live ones, of course, and I promised her pictures of them. Not a squelcher so here we go:

This is Micki ( L ) and Mucki ( R ), the Steiff toy company hedgehogs. They are made in Germany. Usually all Steiff stuffed animals and toys have a button in one of their ears. It's a Steiff trademark. Since Micki and Mucki's ears are too small for the buttons, the buttons have been put on their clothing. From the buttons hang little tags that say "Button In Ear" in German.
This is a little girl hedgehog I bought at a German flea market. She has a string on her back with a little round thing attached. I don't know what that's for. The crystal hedgehog is Swavorski ( spelling? ) crystal.

They say, "Guten Tag and Wie Gehts to you, Empress Audrey!"

When my wife and I were first living together I bought her a Steiff hedgehog which she named Norman. She may have made a mistake by removing the ear tag but we both think he's happier without it. Norman is realistic. I guess Steiff has made several different ones.
In the Monty Python Piranha Brothers sketch, which came out a few years after we got Norman, one of the brothers, Dimsdale I think, believed he was being pursued by a giant hedgehog called "Spiny Norman." Obvious plagiarism.
Why is it that when I collected pigs, everyone I knew gave me tons of pigs. I quit collecting pigs and threw them all away. I now collect Swarovski crystal. Why won't they lavish me with Swarovski like they did those damn pigs? But I digress.
the ice is melting here, what about there?
