Save for Sunday, I've been able to keep my schedule. If you do something for 21 days, it becomes a habit. That is why everyone says to wait three weeks for exercise, to quit smoking, to make the bed whenever you get out of it in the mornings.
Today was the first day I actually got up at the time I'd wanted to do my writing: 0530. I've never been a morning person. Ever. My mother used to have a hell of a time waking me up for school, because there are better things to do at 6 in the morning than get ready for classes. Sleeping is a great thing to do in the mornings. I'm not fit for company until I've had at least one cup of coffee. It used to be that I wasn't fit for company even after the coffee; back in the days I used to smoke, I need three cigarettes, coffee, and a Mountain Dew.
I've been making my word count and then some when I've sat down at the computer (or the kitchen table with the baby), so things are looking good for me to get this done on time.
I hold no illusions that I'll win. In fact, I'm betting dollars to doughnuts that I'm going to lose. But this is great practice for the 'real deal', and it's getting me off my procrastinating butt and back into the creative chair.
