I've had this bad habit lately of leaving the 24 hour news stations on during the day while I go about my work. Today my head began to spin. I think I have OD'd on news. Here are a few highlights (very loosely summarized) that I picked up from the news today.
1. Simon Cowell and AI didn't let a good singer on the show on Tuesday for the first 29 minutes and 32 minutes on Wednesday-yes someone timed it on the news and did a comparison. AI also blatantly ripped apart people with obvious mental/social limitations (3 news stations agreed that this was below the belt and "crossed a line.")
2. China has a spaceship? Ok-I only heard parts but apparently they sent something up to space and blasted out a satellite.
3. Oprah asked Shawn's parents if he had been sexually abused on live tv before he came out and they both seemed to think so. Newspeople debated this one today. Some thought the parents were wrong for putting him on tv so soon, others jabbed at Oprah (who is worth 1.5 BILLION DOLLARS, by the way)
4. Another child is missing. A little girl in Oklahoma. There is an Amber Alert out for her. My own thoughts are this-PLease stop stealing our children! They should have a special prison for people who harm our children.
5. The War in Iraq. There are enough posts on gather to summarize that topic. The newest news on that is mainly that one newsperson said that there is no longer a "split" on the issue as more people are crossing political party lines against the current plans for Iraq.
6. Yesterday Russia sold Iran some weapons. I heard that yesterday-I don't know when the deal took place.
7. It is a rumor that the Olsen twins are worth billions-they are only worth about 100 million according to one analyst.
8. The news has already announced that Barack Obama spent 4 years at a Muslim school as a child. The love affair is over.
9. A guy in Concord, NH has holed up in his house and isn't coming out because he is in trouble for tax evasion since 1996. He has a court date on April 24th and the police have left him alone so far, but he did give a telephone interview to the newsperson and it was aired this afternoon.
10. Pres. Bush might try to focus on domestic issues in the State of the Union address, though many analysts for the news find it unlikely that he will be able to ignore the proverbial "elephant in the room."
That's it. My mind is full now with all these random news bits and I am turning on the Disney Channel as we speak. I can handle Raven and Phil of the Future much better this evening :)

This is a good article, Rob. I had fun reading it.
I have gone at least 6 hours now without flipping to the news channels but I know it won't last...I'm curious about the guy shacked up in Concord
