Potentially Excellent News

I just heard that President Bush has promised to review the case of the two border agents who were railroaded into prison for daring to apprehend a drug smuggler in the act. He has not ruled out a Presidental Pardon.

Given Bush's track record, I don't honestly expect him to do much but blather some platitude and let the two men rot in prison. However, right now he also has in his hands the outraged protest of 55 members of congress from his own party over this mess. Given the open Republican revolt on the Hill over the Iraq war, maybe he will see his way clear to actually do the right thing in this case after all. We'll see.

I also support letting these men, who are in no danger of fleeing or avoiding their fate, out of prison until their appeals are exhausted. There are apparently so any inconsistencies and downright lies coming forward in this cae that I'm amazed someone hasn't done something before this.

I personally intend to write my congressional delegation and the White House again regarding this travesty.

Bush has nothing to do with the prosecution, so there is no reason to impeach. He does have the power to pardon - but only if he's made aware of them. It seems now he is aware.

The problem is that literally tens of thousands of people have contacted the Bush Administration regarding this and Mr. Bush has studiously ignored them all. He gave a ton of pardons recently, some for drug offenders, but couldn't be bothered to address this travesty concerning two of the good guys.

Presidents are busy. I bet it's on his radar and they are scheduling his time to handle it. I see no reason why he would ignore it.

Well he did ignore it. Those men went to prison yesterday because the President didn't act to protect them. Presidents are busy, but their primary job is protecting the people of the United States. When 55 members of Congress have been sending messages to Mr. Bush for weeks, it's hard to argue he can't deal with it. Obviously it's something of major importance. Maybe he could just forgo one of his endless vacations for a day and actually tend to business. Whatta concept.

BTW if he's so darned busy why doesn't he stay at work and get caught up?

I imagine this president could do one morally correct thing in his life,but I wouldn't hold my breath People must continue to contact all of our representatives about these two brave men .The border service threatened to fire any agent that called in sick in support of them the day they reported to prison. They could have hidden in a church but didn't as that illegal immigrant in Chicago is doing. These men are true heroes .Bush is not qualified to clean their boots ,but their fate rests with him. How sad for them and America.

Opportunist my ass!I firmly believe in these two genuine American heroes.If presedent "dumbass' could stay awake past 9:00 pm,he could probably get allot done. Like think more before he does something stupid.

Well, after listening to his speech once again I am much less encouraged. He's more than taking his own sweet time rather than deal with it immediately. He also repeated a lot of the same sad sorry crap that was used to convict them in the first place. The majority of what they were convicted of were administrative matters and they get 10-12 years. The drug dealer on the other hand is allowed to walk not once but twice.

Bush was saying things about how you have to be careful, you don't know all the facts, etc. which leads me to think he will leave those poor guys to rot.

It not like there were 50 witnesses . There were three people present and one of them is an illegal alien DRUG SMUGGLER .Caught and released again after this travesty of justice.All bush hears is lies from a bunch of prosecuters trying to cover their asses. Bush wants OPEN BORDERS and the hell with National Security or American rights. Then he fires justice dept. lawyers who prosecute crooked politicians. Time to IMPEACH yet??????
