I have been doing genealogy for about 30 years now, and I have run across some pretty funny names in my own, and my husband's family. Do you have any that have struck your funny bone?
Mine are:
Dillinger Truman ___(living)
Noah Ark WILKERSON
Lillian Mirtha Maude May SMITH (she was named after all the midwives and neighbors)
Dorcus DICKENS
Abraham FRISBEE
Gloria Bea ___(living)

Names...I can't think of many that are strange in my family but I had a similar thing happen with names and spouses (similar to David's). I have a sister named Sylvia. My brother married a woman named Sylvia, divorced her then married another woman also named Sylvia. I also had a brother named David. My sister married a man named David, had a son and named him David, divorced her husband, and married another David! Crazy, huh? I once met a man named Carlos but the one thing that kept me from actually seeking a relationship with him was his name. My oldest brother is Carlos and I couldn't imagine going out with Carlos and thinking about Carlos!
Oh, my father's name in Jose and my mother's name is Maria. I was born on Christmas day. Go figure!
we had a Veora, a Rowena, a Neola, a Seany, and a Eugene, Jeane, and Genie all at the same time.
I DO have--on collateral branches--THE George Washington, explorer Meriwether Lewis, journalist Henry W. Grady, and astronaut Gordon Cooper.
Also on a collateral line: Olive Branch. (She's on my Branch branch.) And I have several women named Tempy--short for Temperance, I think. Tempy, Georgia, was named after one of them.
Some of my favorite last names are Quakenbush and Longenecker from my Pennsylvania side.
Younglove is on my Baker side.
There are some more but I would have to dig through my family files to find them
Being american indian, I have several wierd names in my family, most likely the strangest by todays standards is Mimi Turkeyfoot. She was either my great great grandmother or great great great grandmother.
Another strange naming phenom I have seen in my family, I realized as I grew up that none of my aunts names that they were called were their legal names. My grandfather was in the army overseas, and mail was really slow. When he was home my grandma got pregnant twice and she was pregnant when he went over originally. He knew about when the kids were due and made up what name he wanted them called. She of course named them what she wanted to, so to this day my aunts go by the names he used.
Never mind.
