Chris - yes, it looks like it should hurt Buddy to have his skin pulled like that, but it doesn't. I knew you would enjoy these ;-)

I have the privilege of knowing Buddy in person. He is very intelligent, always wants to please his masters (even when he desperately wants to do exactly the opposite of the command he just received), big as a small house, energy enough for a dozen dogs with plenty to spare, and (until now) has been the "baby" animal of the house (in years, if not in size). Spike came into the household as a tiny puppy in delicate health. That Buddy would love this new little guy was never in doubt. The big challenge was to get Buddy to realize the huge physical difference between Spike and himself. And then to remember that Spike would always be the baby in years and in size. Tonia has accomplished a miracle in bringing out the responsible adult in Buddy (to protect Spike) and still encouraging the eternal puppy in Buddy (as Spike's lifelong companion). These two best buds look like Davy and Goliath, but they have their wonderful human masters to thank for their new-found friendhsip.

I always look foreward to your photo essays Tonia. Thanks for putting a big grin on my face this morning!
