She lives in her dreams
and walks among gods,
tasting the nectar
of all that is forbidden;
Colors so bright,
ever changing hues,
never basking in gray
or reality's gloom;
She dances in the firelight
swaying to the beat,
born in the heat of passion
an all consuming fire;
A womanchild running
from a reality she shuns
into a dream
that fulfills her desire.
Deep inside her lies unshed tears,
memories that haunt her,
unspoken fears;
Yet she dances and dreams
with a passion so fierce,
and she guards her heart
from being pierced.
See her dance,
sweat pouring down;
Hips move in rhythm
to the sound;
Sweet womanchild
moves to the beat;
Afraid to stop dancing
she moves her feet;
No time to slow down,
no time to care,
no time to give her heart,
no time to share;
She is flesh and bones
beauty beyond compare;
Yet her heart is hidden;
Her body is all that is there.

I used to be a dancer. Sounds like you were too. You have captured some of what I used to feel; a part of me that still lives on somewhere in my mind. It is well written and beautiful. Thank you.
"shuns" Excellent word usage here. Beautifully written and heart felt.
John...Yes, a perfect unraveling of my poem. Thanks for the comment!
