.... not really ... the college is open for business as usual - but my prof didn't make the trip due to lousy weather conditions.
I, on the other hand, did drive all the way down here... after having checked our online system and not finding any announcements advising that he was not going to be here. So ...I drove through nasty, slippery, yucky conditions - took me almost twice as long as usual - only to find that both of his classes have been cancelled. 7 stinking hours to kill before my evening class.... could, I suppose, turn around and drive home again, but given the poor conditions of the roads, that seems an unnecessary risk. *sigh*
Less than 5 minutes - that's all it would have cost him to post an announcement online!
The most frustrating thing about it is that I have already had a discussion with him about this sort of thing.

I emailed the dean of the school and he completely ignored my comments about falling and injuring myself and focused on the safety of the roads. he claimed that he'd been out in it and everything was safe and so he made the judgment to keep the school open. Yeah, college professors and deans aren't the best judges of weather, me thinks.
Just kidding, of course. I'm no professor. But do you wonder if the teach spends his 'snow days' surfing Gather?
Just got an invite to one of my student's facebook ... imagine he sent it to everyone in his address book.
