Just who the hell does she think she is making a comment about a person not having children? Since when has that been a requirement for a political office or position? I personally think the people of California should be embarrassed and ashamed of their Senator.

And the Administration's commitment to the war? Hmmm....I think the Bush's have 2 daughters of military age.... And they are? Oh yes, "vacationing!" And Bush has raised taxes how many times so that the wealthy could give something to the war effort? Oh yes, none! In fact, taxes have been cut, with 90% of the tax benefit of cuts going to the upper 1% of the wealthy.
So....the commitment of the wealthy and the administration. Zero.
If I were a senator, I'd be a bit peeved about the commitment they have made too.
When will Bush apologize for defaming and demeaning all our European allies who correctly foresaw that an invasion of Iraq was far less likely to contain Saddam or reduce terrorists than the UN sponsored economic sanctions and fly-over surveillance.
Better intelligence, better political leaders, better understanding of the use of power.
Vive La France !
Reverse the role.......any liberal woman who would be subject to the same questions would be screaming sexual discrimination.
I wish that the article would have had the qoutes of Boxer implying that Rice and Bush were expecting X number of troops to die.
What if the roles had been reversed, and a Republican man had said that to a democratic woman? He would be hung, and each and every one here knows that to be true.
Clark, do you ever spout anything other than the party line or are you so closed minded that you can't see anything else. As a liberal, the self proclaimed protectors of minorities , women and everything else, you should find this offensive. Your blinded by your illogical hate.
What BS. Boxer's comment could have applied to Bush as well. He will not be paying for it with any immediate family because his twin brats are gallavanting about "teaching" working in musuems, and gettign drunk like dear old dad.
"You fucking son of a bitch! I saw what you wrote! We're not going to forget this!" -- Bush to Wall Street Journal columnist Al Harris (Apparently poor Georgie didn't like what he wrote). It was in the late 80's, but curiously the so-called liberal media never brought this up during campaign seasons 2000 and 2004. Apology status unknown.
Bush: There's Adam Clymer, major league asshole from the New york Times. Cheney: Yeah, tell me about it. -- Bush and Cheney's pleasant conversation being caught by live microphones that were right in front of their face's. September 2000. Apology pending.
"We're proud of it. And if the rest of the country had followed our lead, we wouldn't have had all these problems over all thses years either." Sen. Trent Lott, referring to Mississippi being one of four states to carry the vote for Strom Thurmond's 1948 presidential run. Lott was forced to apologize, but as we know, he was just reinstated into a leadership position by Republican senators.
So far, every Democrat that voted to give Bush the authority to go to war with Iraq (except for Hillary and, of course, Lieberman) has apologized to their constituents and to the nation. Just as Bill Clinton has apologized for his behavior several times.
It wasn't until this past year that Bush finally attended the service of a fallen soldier, which every wartime president before him has done. It should be noted, though, that it was over three years into the war and that it wasn't until the Press had mentioned the fact that he finally did.
And Clark was correct, he didn't admit to any mistakes. He said "mistakes were made, and the responsibility for those mistakes falls on me" -- a far cry from 'I've made mistakes and I am sorry for the Americans and Iraqi's who have died on account of those mistakes.'
Keep in mind that it wasn't but months ago that both Bush and Cheney told interviewers that they would not have done ANYTHING different if they could go back and change something about the way the war was carried out.
A great story in the NY Times today:
..."the president's new strategy, with its explicit acknowledgment that not enough troops had been sent to Iraq to establish control, was a vindication for General Shinseki, who as Army chief of staff publicly told Congress as much just before the war began in 2003.
First vilified, then marginalized by the Bush administration after those comments, retired and faded away, even as lawmakers, pundits and politicians increasingly cited his prescience. "
This was a career military man who spoke the truth to the Senate, (at the same time that Bush refused to share the documents -now acknowledged to be false and fraudulent -regarding WMD in Iraq)). For his honest appraisal, he was publicly rebuked by Rumsfeld (the dimmest Secretary of Defense ever) and piled on by the neo-con hangers-on like Wolfowitz who said that Shinseki was "wildly off the mark"
This week, Bush says "mistakes were made", we failed to secure the peace in Iraq, the number of troops was never sufficient, -and he apologized to General Shinseki and commended him for his insight, his courage and enormous dignity.
Yeah, right.
Can any of the "Friends of the Snorter in Chief" give ANY EXAMPLE of a Conservative apologizing in the last six years?
Just one??
Bill Frist for his "telephone diagnosis" of Terry Schiavo that was flat wrong?
Cheney for telling Patrick Leahy to "go f**k yourself" on the floor of the Senate??
Liberals will say anything? Liberals never apologize? What bullshit.
Clark I agree, we may both be standing up for what we think is right even when we are on different sides of the spectrum. We both have the same common goal. But I am a right winger and you are wrong winger. Just kidding LOL
Right on Greg.
So, who is paying for this war? Unfortunately it is those unfortunate enough to find themselves in the armed forces and reserves when Bush became commander in chief and future generations who will find themselves paying off this war debt. There are also hundreds of thousands of avoidable Iraqi deaths caused by our invasion.
Meanwhile some of today's war-mongering, rich, investor-types [in the likes of Haliburton] are actually profiting from the corruption and bloodshed. You all should be ashamed. This is immoral and un-American!
