Challenge: What is your best cold remedy?

With all the sniffles and flu symptoms being reported by fellow Gatherers lately, I wondered what some of the tips and tricks are that other people have used to help with fighting a cold?  What are any tips that you can give, or some of those great home remedies that your great-great-grandma passed down?

when i have a cold my grandma prepares some kind of home-made medicine. It is fresh ,squeezed, HOT orange juice with honey. It has always helped me alot. Try buying some Halls Vitamin C Drops. They are really good too.

Vitamin C tablets help some to prevent it from getting worse.

They do sell Airbourne here-it's fairly new and I always wondered if it worked. Thanks for the ideas-

I take Zinc supplements. I have not tried Airborne.

I also melt rock candy in whiskey for the cough.

That sounds like it could knock the cough for a good loop-I like that idea, Amanda! My sister's mother-in-law swears by a few shots of blackberry brandy, though I'm not sure of the reason

A glass of hot lemonade with half a jigger of whiskey and 2 tablespoons of honey works best for me...though my husband swears by Airborne.

any time I'm feeling rundown and/or am around someone else who is sick, I make echinecea tea. seems to work quite well for me.
