Imagine that you get the devastating news that you have a sinkhole that threatens to swallow your home. So, you call the insurance company, and they send an inspector out to quote the damage repair costs. He estimates that it will cost 100K to pump concrete into the hole, and repair all of the cosmetic damge the sinkhole had done to your beautiful home.
Relax, you have the money to repair your home. You call around to local sinkhole repairmen and find that on average, it will only cost 60K to repair your home. The insurance company is still going to give you 100K.
Do you keep the money, put in a pool, take several vacations, and purchase a brand new networking system and computers for every room of the house?
Do you call the insurance company, and tell them that you need less money?
What would you do?
