the thought of your kiss
envelops my imagination
two gentle pilgrims
hoping for spiritual connection
yet no physical reality
exists between us
it would be tragic
if we both knew the truth
instead we retreat
into our battlements
encased in fear of commitment
or at the least
fear of creating a bold statement
of minds
souls
flesh
making connection
selection
affection
resurrection
perfection
followed by rejection
you are not
half the fool I am
if I may be so bold
to have told
how I wish to hold
and shower love untold
until we both are old
