I'm watching some murder mysteries on MSBNC and they broke in at 2:30 p.m. est with this story. It was just a quick newsbreak. No other details.

I had the all day and night news channels on from late last night and they have been focusing on this story since at least around noon. At first they only knew that there was something big going down. They've slowly added details as the day has gone on.

I don't know what to make of it, but the part about the guy lying and hiding 2 men in the rig is suspicious enough

They have shut down the port to allowing any cargo or semi traffic into the Port to get to the cruise ships. All the cruise ships are docked there.

They seem to think that the truck is near a building where there is some scanning euipment for cargo. I'll keep watching :)

I don't know if any of you have been to the Port of Miami. In October, when we dropped off my parents for their cruise, the security at the Port did not even ask for ID. My Husband & I thoguht that was odd, because a few months earlier (again when dropping off my parents for a cruise), they asked for ID.

Elaine, it's funny that you mentioned that becaues one of the news commentators said something to the effect that either the guys sneaking in were just stupid or they really thought that they could pull it off due to easy security.

There are 6 ships and an estimated 12-14,000 people that would be in that area today

I have not gone over to CNN to see what happened yet, but it is my guess this was a false alarm. Lars works in Port of Miami a great deal. Those are his gangways the cruise ships are using. The security for workers is quite stringent. You can easily get into the the area by the terminals, but you cannot get to the actual port very easily... most times. I should add that once in awhile we have driven down because he forgot something and there was no security at all to be found, but those times there were no cruise passangers.

Still. I can think of a lot of better targets if I was so inclined.
