I agree with Lost Soul. How could we as a race have stood by and allowed him to do what he did to thousands of innocents? How could we have allowed Darfur to happen? Or the Holocaust (which, rumor has it, never really occurred)?

Yes, all of us died. And we will continue to until we as a race forbid this kind of behavior uncategorically and refuse to allow it to happen.

We should not have seen that hanging, but for you who have, I like your attitude, as for me, I refuse to watch it.

About 2 million Iraqis have died do to our involvement since 1991, they all deserve our utmost attention, and for you, Saddam might represent that, and that is good.

Oh yes. Head bent and feeling sick. We glibly pronounced that the Iraqi's wrought this vengeance but the world knows what leader was responsible -- the one so adept at washing his hands in public. Dictators of the world, those under our current favor, should take notice. Next neck might be theirs.

I felt no joy at hearing the news that Hussein had been hung. It's another murder, state-sanctioned, but murder nevertheless. A sad day for all of humanity. I am obviously not in favor of capital punishment, here or anywhere.

It's strange. I feel sick and hollow when I think back on this event.
How can we "succeed" in Iraq? We failed as soon as we invaded and now we are left with nothing but horror.
Horror foisted on the Iraqi people at our hand.

Cat - I was in California visiting a family member when the news broke about this execution. I remain completely numb about it. I think perhaps I have reached max capacity when it comes to my emotional involvement in world events.

I am, however, ready to vote. How many months until November?

I agree with Patty it was an unnecessary death just as the thousands of American, English, Iraqi and anyone else killed in Bush's Holy War.
