As Democrats took control of the house today, one of the first orders of business was to revamp the ethics and lobbying rules. Rep. James McGovern (D) led the charge on the floor, and said "His [the Republican] party was in control for 12 years and there has been ample room for change... we are going to end the culture of corruption today." What a crock. A 10 second search on Google returns the following info about James. (And let's not talk about the fact that the Republicans didn't get their copies of the rule changes until late Wednesday).
An American Congressman (D) in Paris
Last February, US Representative James P. McGovern of Worcester and his wife flew to Paris and checked into the exclusive Hotel de Crillon on the Place de la Concorde. But this was not a family vacation.
The airfares for both McGovern and his wife were paid for by the International Management and Development Institute, a corporate-funded, nonprofit group that promotes US-European trade relations. The business group also paid for two nights at the Hotel de Crillon, with two more nights paid by McGovern, so he could spend extra personal time in Paris.
Congressional rules allow lawmakers to take such privately financed trips for purposes related to their official duties, but they are required to disclose the travel within 30 days in writing. McGovern, however, did not file his report until last week, shortly after an inquiry by The Globe. At the same time, he filed reports for four 2003 trips.

How horrible, that there is now a new sheriff in town that's going to make serious changes to drain the culture of corruption swamp. Whatever will republicans do? Lordy.
Don, what are you going to attempt to defend next, pedophila or forced child labor, perhaps? Can you possibly get any more extreme and out of touch with mainstream than you are?
McGovern is saying the Rep. are crooks but how can you cast the first stone, when he is doing the same thing.
