Ok,this article is for us "older" people who think myspace is a den of evil trying to suck in young kids!!LOL!!
I recently joined myspace.com.Why? I was looking for information on a TV show and it led to a myspace group.ANYWAY- I have learned a bit about myspace since joining and thought I'd share what I've learned:) First-there's a spot for you to not accept friend invites from bands, authors, ect.CHECK those off if you don't want to be swamped with advertising!!
Many actors, authors, ect have a myspace page and it's a good place to get info about upcoming books,tv shows, movies, ect. If you add that person to your friend list it's really just a bookmark that is easily accesible.Think about it-you can bookmark all your favorite writes, actors, ect in one place instead of looking them up through a search engine.I've also collected a few funny videos and added those to my collection to look at when I need a laugh. My profile is BASIC as I'm not into all the hoopla of adding losta junk and probably couldn't if I wanted to anyway.I don't have tons of friends on my list as I only add who/what really interests me.I've also done a couple blogs(OH THE HORROR!) when I've just wanted to write. You can make these private and use it as a diary or public so anyone can read them. There's also music you can add to your space I guess but I've not done it.
I've found alot of SNL skits at myspace and they just crack me up! Anyhowwwwwwwwwwwww.I hope this has shed some light on myspace for those of us who have avoided it thus far.
So,in closing think not of myspace as the den of evil but as a mini highway of information!
PS-Ok,I still think that it's a horrible place for teenagers BUT you can avoid that whole aspect of it like I do.

That said, I too am on Myspace for similar reasons - I tend to hear about a lot of new music and unique bands that way, so I check it out every now and then.
