The Yellow Pearl Harley Davidson VRSC Part 2
Raj took her hands and pulled her to her feet.
"Do you remember one of those dances that we did when you were still in your early teens?"
She looked up quickly in surprise as if a pleasant thought had struck her.
"Oh of course I remember them. Which one are you thinking of now?"
"Do you remember the one ‘Papa I want to marry'?"
Haya burst out laughing happily.
"Of course I remember that silly song. What about it?"
"Then come on. Let's start dancing."
He walked some distance away and stared across the waters. Then he began his dance. First he shrugged one shoulder up and down four times and then the other. He did two steps to the left and kicked and then did the same to the right.
Then he turned around and shimmied up to Haya and, while dancing, held out his hands to her.
As he was doing this, Haya's mind went back to ten years ago. As she saw her father dance, she began to hear again the beautiful rhythmic music that he had always played. She ran a few steps towards him and began to dance as well.
With her right arm held above her head and the other on her hip she moved around him to the imagined music. She danced back to back with him and then danced a few steps away and began to sing.
"Papa I want to marry."
He answered with a look of mock surprise on his face.
"Oh daughter, who is the man that you desire?
One that has a wicked smile?"
"No Papa no. It's not evil that I seek."
"Oh daughter. Who is the man that you desire?
One that keeps you in the kitchen?"
"No Papa no. I'm no one's slave every week."
"Oh daughter. Who is the man that you desire?
One that comes home drunk each night?"
"No Papa no. I can't stand that rotgut reek."
"Oh daughter. Who is the man that you desire?"
One that holds your heart near his?"
Automatically she began to sing on.
"No Papa no ........." and then she stopped.
Looking awestruck she began to stare with wide open eyes into the distance.
She did not reply. She was staring into the distance. In fact, she seemed to have gone into a trance. As she kept on staring she began to laugh and hold out her hands as if she wanted to run forward.
Then she heard her father's voice.
"It's Jason isn't it? You've just seen Jason. Tell me if that's the truth."
She stood as if mesmerised. She didn't answer for a long time. Then when she finally spoke she could only whisper.
"Yes it was Jason. I saw him over there. He was dancing. Like he did on the mountain peak at the Oribi Gorge. This time however it was different."
"How different my darling."
She ran up to her father and put her head on his chest.
"Papa, he was beckoning to me. He wanted me to come and dance with him."
"And did you want to go?"
"Yessss Papa. I wanted to go. With my whole heart. Suddenly I knew everything."
He embraced her warmly and then with a laugh he spoke.
"Haya dearest. Isn't it wonderful what a ride on a Harley can do?"
She stepped back and laughed more merrily than she had in the past year.

Earlier you said that the story made the dreamer in you surface and want to dance.
Tell me, does it still have that effect on you?
I'd be very interested to know this.
Haya realises finally that it was Jason that she loved. Her marriage was a mistake. A mistake made because of a distorted view of events in her life.
She is still shaken by the fact that Jason tried desparately to save her husband's life earlier.
