Process: Evolution Of A Butterfly; Or Stages In The Evolution Of A Word Into A Butterfly

What I really mean is Butterfly into butterfly. This started out to be part of the logo for my Words Into Image Group (All-In-One Image With Writing Group). It ended up being fun to play with; then I remembered what I was supposed to be doing.

The variations here are steps in the evolution of the logo that have evolved into images on their own. This kind of play, the exploration of a word into an image, can enthrall me for days with endless variations.

There are about sixteen versions that I've held on to at this point. These six plus the logo are steps along the way. In writing this short article I've come up with two more ideas I want to try with this image and another use for the image that may or may not come to pass.

Sometimes life works out this way, might as well have fun with it while life is playing on it's own terms, yes.

Corina - i am glad you spoke up about which you like the best, i was curious which people might choose. i like each for different reasons, but as is happening with Mariana i thought having too many large images might make the article load slow so i tried to limit what i showed (may be i should have limited it more, yikes!)
Terry - thank you, i'm delighted with your reaction to these, way cool.
Mariana - i'm sorry this has caused your loading slow and loosing comments issue, i was worried about that. now i know to try to limit the number of images in an article even more, so thanks for letting me know. i'm glad on the other hand that you find these exciting enough to inspire! way cool on that. your process sounds awesome. if it gives you a feeling of raku, i know that surface is going to be rich. will you show them here? thank you for the great effort to view this article and the works. good health and being on you! aloha Wrick
i think artists create, with what ever they decide to create with... of course... i also think all human beings are artists, some just may not know it yet. *smile*. thanks for your comment. i appreciate it. have fun. aloha - Wrick.
hawaii quilts are really cool (imo) before i was working on the computer much i designed a few. they were never made altho a number of people and some quilters liked them. since being on the computer more i've played with some simple versions of hawaii quilt like patterns but not done something specific yet - there is just too much i want to do, hahaha. the computer is a great place to work out that kind of idea.
your works inspire too, Jill. things you have done will eventually surface in me. i know this is how it works for me with things i like - i follow the process and evolve it in my own ways until i find the right place for it in my own way. we are gregarious beings and we do learn from those around us in many ways even when we do not realize that is exactly what we are doing.
i also agree that art, environment and experiences all pull together in developing a person/artist. and yes, if we stay open and young in our thinking and mind we can grow through out most of our life - that's the way it seems to me. i do respond to what is around me where ever i am. sometimes in local ways and sometimes in ways that combine local ways and past experiences - everything we are and have experienced, is what makes us unique - like no other being ever, the more of that we get into our work the more our work becomes the uniqueness of us. every place, every moment has something to offer combining that with what we bring to the place and moment creates a blossom unique to that moment. all we have to do is open up and play with it. use it in our creative capacity and off we go, yes. thank you for pointing these things out Jill. have fun. - aloha - Wrick.
Another wonderful expression of your visual/verbal process. I really enjoyed the comments between you and Jill about how the environment or context in which a person creates can have a great effect on an artist's work. Your choices of landscapes, flowers, angel sculptures in cemeteries, etc. has given us a glimpe into your world there in Hawaii as well as your inner vision. The evolution of this butterfly as a piece of art reflects the evolution of you as an artist. Very nice work, Wrick!
thanks for pointing that out and reading. some people are able to get me to talk on and on about something. sometimes i am very silent. i'd like to think that i am still growing as an artist. dialoguing is one way to grow. cool. thanks Crow. aloha - Wrick
