First off, let me wish each and everyone of you the Happiest of New Years. I hope 2007 is everything you hoped it can be and then some. 2007 for us will hold for sure two joyous occassions. In May my oldest daughter is graduating high school and will embark on her new experiences in life:College.
Speaking of new life and life's experiences, in July of 2007 my oldest son is due to have his first child. What an experience that will be considering he's my first born and it seems like only yesterday taht I had 18 1/2 hours of labor with him as my reward. This whole process should be interesting to say the least.
But thinking more in the today/now mood. I am wondering what's on the schedule for today? Today is a very memorable day for us. See for the past 14 years all of our holidays has been spent at the in-laws. Christmas, New Years, Easter, etc, etc, but for some reason, on Friday my father in law announced that he would be having his meal at home alone with his wife, none of his 6 children, 24 grandchildren, or 8 great grandchildren were invited. Now some might have gotten thier feelings hurt, but me this was the best gift I could have gotten the whole year long.
Why do you ask? Well no snid remarks from nosy, toxic in laws. No hearing how I am 10 minutes late with thier food and there should be no excuse. No having to watch my kids' every moves so they don't get blamed for something, no having to bite my tongue. None, Nada, Nothing......my life is just so good.
So here I am trying to remember how to prepare a New Year's Day meal. Dh has a pork roast stuffed with garlic in a bag in the oven with veggies, he boiled calliflower, cabbage, carrots, and potatoes on the stove top with some crab boil, the field peas are cooking down with ham hocks and onions, rice is needing to be boiled, and the bread is waiting to be baked. Done last night was the deviled eggs, shrimp and crab dip, coleslaw, and a coconut cake.
So today my kids can play without fear of harrassment, my food will be served according to my schedule, I don't have to hear any put downs or snid remarks, Can we all say this has to be heaven/? LOL
Well sending ya'll all of our best from the murky swamps of Louisiana,
Stephanie

I will be cooking a dinner, to include ham with pineapple, and brown sugar, Yams, garlic, and cheese potatoes, and pie.
Boring a know, but hey. I do live in Maine
I have purchased appitizer's to have fun finger food. A fun day just for the two of us.
Happy New Year to all!!
We have been "in-law-less" for almost 6 years now,,, and to be brutally honest, I don't miss them a bit.
Have a great day, it sounds like you all, will be eating very good. Happy New Year!
Ham always sounds good to me. And yams and cheese potatoes is one of my favorites as well. So you don't live in our area of the swamp. We have a presque isle down here in Louisiana that's why I asked.
Take care and happy new year.
It will be a historic event to say the least at the birth of my grandchild. On our side he's our first grand child and first great grandchild.
One the mom's side they have oodles and oodles of grandkids and great grandkids, so it might not be as memorable for them. Plus my son lives like 5 minutes from my house so I can see the need to visit often, daily hopefully.
Also my son is the oldest child of the oldest child, of the oldest child, of the oldest child. Did that make sense?
Well best wishes to you and your wife, let me know if you want me to email ya a plate...LOL
I am so sorry that you have been feeling so under the weather. If it's not one thing it's another. I hope that you can get back up on your feet and feeling better soon.
I would love to go on a ride....one day!!
Happy New years!!
Have a great time with those grandkids of yours and please share the pictures of those beautiful kids. I hope that next year I will be in the same catergory as you "being a proud, doting grandma"!!
thanks for the well wishes and the same right back at ya and your loved ones.!!
so glad I am not the only one who can celebrate at the fact of no inlaws. I was almost lost all day long, as though I was wondering what to do or waiting for the ball to drop. NADA, NOTHING and it was so good. I even got in a three hour nap between lunch and supper.
I am so glad you spent a non eventful day at home with dh. I hope dh can somehow enjoy his return to work.
My best wishes to you and yours for the New Year.
Yeah not being with the toxic laws was surely lagniappe, for me at least. I hope you were able to get some great sleep after that rude awakening in the night. Take care and hope to read some of your great articles soon.
It sounds like you had a great time with your friends. Hopefully one day I can spend my New YEars with friends and family
I was jobless due to the fact that I quit my job hot shotting after about 4 months of abuse by the owner/company. I had no other plan in place before I quit the job making me the fool!!
Now I sit for an older couple 5 days a week, so I am no longer jobless, yet still a fool!! LOL
