We had a tradition, when I was growing up. I came from a large family and we would all set up all night long. At midnight we would go for a 3 mile walk on our county road. I believe that we did this to keep us awake. At dawn, we would all collape into bed, only to sleep for a couple hours. We had cabbage to eat because it was said that Cabbage would bring us good luck. We spent New Years day together playing board games and chit chatting.
Tonight is New Years Eve. My husband has to work all night and it is too far to go to be with my family. I am spending the night reading a good book and visiting on gather. I know that at midnight, my phone will ring and it will be my wonderful husband. He is just the best husband.
It is raining and foggy outside. My husband works outside all night. I feel so sorry for him. He is a hard worker and a great provider. He is my best friend.
I would like to wish all of new gather friends a happy New Year. I hope it is the best year ever for each of you.
