And whether coincidental or not, I find that your icon image seems to perfectly complement the verse - the bare tree, the bare bench, the grey tones of the water and sky and the birds adding the dimension of life and movement to the scene.

julian, and Edward, I'm flattered by these generous words from such talented writers. I also am a big fan of Basho and the ancient Japanese poets. Haiku is such a small clear vessel in which examine little zen colored chunks of life. Done well, it is one of my favorite forms.
