I was searching the news sites to see what was being said about Saddam's execution, and I thought I would try Google News with no search terms. The very top story was "The execution of Saddam Hussein." This link took me to the Asian Tribune, and in fact it was not a story but an editorial. The by-line was this: "By the Editorial Board—World Socialist Web Site."
So right there, Google has somehow made a decision to deliver a socialist editorial as the "Top News" item. Amazing. Anyways, I read the entire thing and it got worse and worse as I read. I'll quote the very last paragraph here:
"True justice for the tortured and oppressed people of Iraq, as well as the American, British and other victims of the US-led war, will come only when those responsible for the invasion and occupation—Bush, Cheney and their acolytes—face their own trials for waging an illegal war of aggression."
You can read the editorial here in full. FYI - Google actually linked here for the same editorial.
I am starting to think that maybe it's a dangerous thing to continue supporting Google. They definitely do not have America's best interest at heart.

Right now though, the search engine is their bread and butter, so we can hit them where it hurts.
How do news items get to the top in Google? I understand the page ranking system for regular searches but I don't know anything about the news.
Larry which search engine do you think is better than Google? Has anyone tried Microsoft Live?
1. It is easy to be liberal when you're young.
2. It is easy to be liberal when you're wealthy.
3. It is easy to be liberal when you know best.
Most people grow out of the first.
"Google gives mostly any site the chance to be top, though behind the scenes, there may or may not be an "authority" rank to make it harder for smaller sites to get into top positions on the frontpage (I don't know either way)."
I believe the above information to be someones expert opinion. Google is famous for keeping secrets, but I've been a web developer for about ten years and I used to work for Tribune in my early years, so I know a few things about publishing news. My guess is there would have to be human oversight involved in managing what you see on the main news page.
Political Bloggers Fed Up with Google News. Apparently, more than a few people are complaining about what is included as "news."
And yet another conservative site, NewsBusters, complains: Is Google Purging Conservative News Sites?.
"Give a Liberal a thought and he'll repeat it mindlessly all day. Teach a Liberal to think for himself and he'll vote Republican for the rest of his life."
Anywho, there is bias going on at Google, and in addition, they give lot's of money to Democrats and MoveOn. That's enough for me... the search is on... for a new search engine.
Google ticked me off when they got on their knees to the Chinese a while back.
*applauds google*
Maria Bartiromo: "I'm curious, have you ever googled anybody? Do you use Google?"
President Bush: "Occasionally. One of the things I've used on the Google is to pull up maps. It's very interesting to see -- I've forgot the name of the program -- but you get the satellite, and you can -- like, I kinda like to look at the ranch. It remind me of where I wanna be sometimes." --interview with CNBC's Maria Bartiromo, Oct. 24, 2006

e.f. - ask.com is nothing more than a google front. Mouse over the sponsored links and you will see they go to google to register the click before it takes you to the site. Thus, ask.com benefits google.
Where's the outrage over the draining of wealth and credit card culture we live in now? The average American has a negative savings rate, is underpaid, and still buys Chinese s*(& at bargain basement prices, or 16% over infinity.
This is not a 'hate' america thing. THis is simply common sense. Our government has been actively engaged in opening Chinese markets for American corporations, while borrowing directly from the Chinese government, while ostensibly indenturing it's citizens funding the censorship you bash google for very dubiously supporting.
I think you all are missing the boat on this one. I fear China, and that's because I am 27, and I am going to have to deal with it at 50, when we are still paying them back.
And manufacturing jobs moving out of America has been going on for years, and that includes all eight years under Clinton. And YOU buy all that crap, so you are part of the problem as much as anyone.
Hell, those liberal Google bastards have made me money hand over fist these last two years... damn it, I didn't think these liberal SOB's could spell capitalism, much less be successful at it. Boy, was I wrong!
Investing in The google has taught me that money doesn't have a liberal bias... it spends just the same in conservative establishments as it does in liberal ones.
I'm conflicted... should I sell my Google stock now that they have been exposed to support communism?
IPO
BTW, why did you delete your post with the Archa info? Despite our considerable political differnces, perhaps we have some work-related synergies.

Just because Google allowed this does not mean they hate America. For the most part this is accurate......and pal.....it ain't just Google. If you could step out of your bubble you'd see that most of the outside world agrees with the article.
But the execution is interesting. Is it making Sadam a martyr. Maybe he should be rotting in solitary confinement right now. But if we execute anyone, we should execute Sadam.
An interesting study in how a herd can veer toward the abyss.
I got back a nice email saying their algorithm is responsible, not them! Lovely. That's how the Nazi's and Commies must have assuaged what was left of their consciences!

politics and place opinions. As far as main-stream media, ABC,CBS, NBC, Fox,
CNN they all receive money for the commercials they post. If they offend their
financial cotributors the dollars stop. That is why the internet is so valuable.
On Link TV. Or Link.org, or FreeSpeech.Org. or Free Speech TV which is received
by satellite and posted on the internet, it is the viewers not commercial interests
or the government that controls the content. Your internet is the way to express
your political views without editing. This is why it is so valuable.
As far as the Iraq war is concerned the public remains totally ignorant. Thats how
the corporations and Bush Administration want it.
\As far as why they were is such a hurry to execute Sadam, it was not wished to
to reveal why the Kurds were gassed, and that the United States had been an
ally of Iraq and Sadam for many years, including the Iraq, Iran War. Had furnished
them with many of the weapons they used to massacre their own people. The Bush administration does not want this to be reminded to the public.
750,000 Palestinians were involuntarily ejected from their homes in 1948 when
Israel was made a nation. The Israels confiscated their homes and property and
have never made any attempt to reimburse them for the confiscation. The UN
passed a resolution shortly after the confiscation that directed Israel to compensate their victims. Although the UN has renewed this resolution yearly
Israel refuses to comply. They ask Palestinians to reject armed resistance to
their terrorism of Palestinians, but ask Palestinians to reject terrorism against
Israel, while not doing this themselves. The US President and Congress are
as usual heavily influenced by Jewish lobbies like AIPSA, which contributes heavily
to their campaigns. The US furnishes F-16 Fighter jets, missiles and cluster bombs
to Israel. Is it any wonder that the Arabs hate us as much as Israel?
We invaded Iraq because Iraq would not "privatize" its oil resources. The primary
reason we invaded Iraq was to insure Iraqs oil would be "privatized", controlled
by Exxon/Mobil, BP, Haliburton which provides oil infrastruture. The only ones why
have gained by this atrocious War are Oil Corporations, like Exon,BP, and war
contractors. The second reason is that we want to establish "PERMANENT" military
bases in the Mid East, to protect oil resources and prevent them from being sold
to quickly developing nations like India and China.
There is a rapidly developing theory that the World Trade Center was deliberately
allowed to be bombed by acft loaded with fuel, that Pakistan was probably the
nation that provided the funding, not Iraq. That the Trade Center had prepositioned explosives on the 20th floor because they knew an attack was
imminent. Cheney probably approved the detonation. They and the energy
giants needed a pretext to start a war with Iraq in order to control their oil
and for us to maintain permanent bases along an oil pipeline to guard these
confiscated assets.
