I found a magazine awhile back that was seeking stories of 55 words (no more, no less). I did a piece on Cicadas, it took me five days to make an original 116 word story complete with tight beginning, descriptive body middle and conclusive end, 55 words without breaking the continuity and loosing the reader. I was amazed at how such a writing challenge made me feel.
Elated at the successful completion on the polishing/editing process that when I saw it in print made the success even that more rewarding. The project was so challenging. The process taught me to rewrite verbosity into simplicity. I am so glad I took it on. Opportunities to hone your writing skills are all over the Internet and I am grateful for a place like gather to feature those very best literary and photographic creative expressionists who have equally challenged themselves and successfully created their finest work...for all of us to see, share, comment on and enjoy.
Salute to the fine arts, entertainment, humanities and appreciation for life through beautiful artistic expression--communities !
