Skin Softening Butter Bars (Lotion Bars)
Butter Bar
1/4 c. sweet almond oil - or other carrier oil of choice
1/4 c. beeswax pearls/or grated beeswax, white or yellow
1/4 c. shea or cocoa butter (deodorized or the non-deodorized that has a chocolate scent)
.5% preservative of choice, (I use Liquipar Optima, though that's just my choice)
1 teaspoon or to your personal preference of scent, essential oil or a blend of them.
Using a double boiler, melt the beeswax. It will take awhile as it melts slowly. I don't use the microwave for any of these as the microwave not only irradiates natural products, but it also heats from the "inside" and you won't get the product melting at the same time. It can also ruin valuable properties that are needed for your skin.
Melt the beeswax, then add the butter, melting it in while stirring. Add in the sweet almond oil and stir till well-mixed. Remove from heat and add your preservative and your choice of essential oils - remembering that if y
ou used non-deodorized cocoa butter, you'll need oils that are compatible with a slight chocolate scent.
Pour into the half-ounce lotion bar containers and let sit till cool. Cap and label.

These were so much fun, as people had never seen them before, they were the part of the giftsets I made up to give to people, the hands-down favorite. It's funny as they're so easy to make and everyone had a ball with them. Off came the caps and they were using them right away. It was fun and funny to watch. Just thought you'd want to know which thing everyone liked best, in addition to the soaps that I matched up to everything else.
Though I have Christmas molds and used them, the popular molds were the animal ones - the pig, the cow, the cat, the dog and the smaller kid-sized critters.
I guess animals are just fun anytime of the year!

The cute animal molds are all made by Milky Way Molds, but I don't buy from them. If you buy from their website and this makes NO sense, it'll cost you $7.50 per mold, but if you wait for ginny at www.floridasoapsupplies.com to do a fast buy, they'll be around 5 bucks.
Or, if you buy from www.chemistrystore.com, and sign up for the email newsletter thingy, you'll immediately get a 15% off coupon from John See, the owner, on any non-sale things you buy, and he's got some molds (he carrys Milky Way) for 99 cents, on sale and also his Christmas ones were and still are, $4.75, but his others and he's got the whole line, are 5.. something, but then you use the coupon in the email and take the 15% off of those as they aren't on sale. Did that make "any" sense? LOL
For the containers like the ones above, I get those from Tammy at www.elementsbathandbody.com and she's excellent and very inexpensive, she's also got the lip balm tubes for...........maybe 15 cents... I think.
Just bought some too! Hope that helps, forgot to list sources in the article!
