Thank you for your interest in our new Books & Writing Correspondent Corps on Gather.com. We are gearing up to launch the Books & Writing Channel and are looking for excellent writers passionate about literature who are looking to gain national exposure and create an engaged community around their work.
We will be reviewing applicants' writing samples over the next few weeks and invite you to submit a brief piece of writing for evaluation by our Books & Writing Channel Manager. We are running our writing sample submission process on BookCorps.Gather.com to ensure that we select great writers who are comfortable publishing online using our platform. For the Books & Writing Corps, we will be selecting only 8 writers nationally.
Finalists will be selected upon review of their work, so we encourage you to submit your sample article as soon as you are ready. If you have any concerns while publishing your writing sample, please contact us at: bureauchief@gatherinc.com and we would be happy to walk you through our publishing tool and answer any of your questions.

1. I live in Portugal - will you visit me or am I expected to vist you?
2. Are you asking for sample stories or for articles about being a writer/author?
Does this apply solely to residents of the States? I mean, the internet has made it possible to "gather" a large international community..Gather is no exception. Writers write for the whole English-speaking community all over the world. We enjoy reading what they write. Why should we ,non-residents, be excluded?
I understand there may be some good reason for that..But like Melinda, I just want to ask.
As an aside, I am wholeheartedly in approval of gather members from outside the the U.S. having the opportunity to participate and receive payment in the Gather Corps. I am interested in reading other perspectives and think many gather members would benefit from this approach.
