I Miss...

I miss... The Bee Gees

I miss... riding around in a "muscle car" with the 8-track cranked up on the latest Creedence Clearwater Revival album.

I miss... peasant tops - the real ones, not the ones the kids wear now

I miss... parting my hair in the middle and wearing it long and straight

I miss... going to the drive-in and sometimes even having dusk to dawn marathons

I miss... driving up and down "the drag" on Friday nights, my boyfriend doing burn outs at the red light while I sat in the middle next to him

I miss... our favorite radio station in the Kansas City area, WHB, the World's Happiest Broadcasters

I miss... chili dogs and root beer at Dog 'n Suds - the chili stained anything it touched a luminous orange

I miss... Flip Wilson

I miss... the downtown Halloween Street Dance and dancing with "older" guys who were out of school

I miss... the dragstrip on Saturday afternoons and the sound and smell of the fuel line dragsters

I miss... Laugh In - it really impacted our culture... sock it to me, verrrry interesting, here come da judge

I miss... sitting on the front porch on hot summer nights with a glass of ice tea, listening to the little night critters

I miss... my Dad.

I miss all these things too, but I especially miss my Dad. The 70s were an important part of my life. They were the best. Thanks for the reminders Vicky. Happy Holidays!

You took me back...Laugh In, it was so shocking in it's day. I remember when SNL first came on and we couldn't believe they could say those things on television. I miss being able to leave doors unlocked and windows open without being afraid someone would break in!

I miss my Mom's '64 Ford Falcon, WKBW when it was the best rock station in Buffalo, NY and one sweet girl that I met way to early in life and never got to kiss

We would get along fine, I had a muscle car(several), we cruised the strip, drag raced, did burnouts, and my girl was always sitting between the seats holding on to me.

I miss streaking the WhiteHouse and other public places.
I miss having a cause worth speaking out for
I miss concerts that went all weekend with lots of other free individuals. I miss the purity of the 50's and the renewal of the 60's
I miss not caring about what people thought as long as they let me think too.

This is great, Vicki, and it made me stop for a minute and smile at some of the events in my past.

I miss k.c. and the sunshine band
I miss being thrilled when I new album by being the correct caller to the television station.
I miss doing some heavy petting on my parent's first porch.
I miss snow days.

This was great! I also miss laugh in and tried to explain it to my son the other - no luck. I also miss the original star trek, the man from uncle, smoking in the high school parking lot, no locking the door to the house, biggest worry - who i was going out with that weekend.

I was a teen ager in the 1970's - so I only remeber some of the stuff you mentioned 1) peasant tops - the real ones, not the ones the kids wear now
2)parting my hair in the middle and wearing it long and straight 3)going to the drive-in. 4)Laugh In In Canada in the 1970's - the FLQ crisis , The Montreal Olympics that I only heard of but never went to . In Atlantic Canada in about '75-76 smock tops and dresses were popular. it is late here so am too tired to think of anything else

Oh how I too miss the Bee Gees!!! I was a teen in the 70s and often times wish that I could go back there to those times but then I would never have discovered how truly wonderful my mom and dad truly are. They are the two most wonderful people that I will ever have the pleasure to know and if I were stuck in the 70s I would not have had the chance to truly see them for who they really are. I loved the 70's but I am so greatful to be here and alive in 2006 soon to be 2007. Count each day as a blessing from God.
