hurts the throat.
Her self-hate is so solid,
it will not soften,
even at praise well meant.
She dares you to
convince her.
In the end you hate her
for her insistence
and rude refusal
of your comfort.

Sometimes people perfer to keep their self- destructive behaviour, because, in a way, THAT is their comfort. They don't know how to function any other way.
