Hello Dear Folks and Friends at Gather:

To all of you who are from the South or just plain love the South - especially You Girls - like me!  Please join my Group, G.R.I.T.S. (Girls Raised in the South)....I'd love to hear from you about your southern upbringing, cooking, cars, music.  I was raised in southwest Louisiana and of course, that's another world  but it's still South!  Thanks!  Salud.

G.R.I.T.S. Perfect name for a group from the South!!! I'm from the West so I don't fit in that group either, but I sure think that name is appropriate. (you just don't want to know what I think of grits tho)

Yeah ditto on the once, and I demand that this group be disbanded, it is sexist and prohibits men from joining! I'm calling the aclu, the naacp, the gop,Rev Al, the urw, the teamsters, and anybody else I can think of. Shameful I say, I might even call NOW, and the league of women voters. Not very hospitable of you southern ladies, not at all- shame, shame on all of you. Tsk tsk.

East Tennessee, here. Oak Ridge. Grew up, went to school up north, married a yankee and all that - and then somewhere around age 37 or so, those hills of home woke up in me and I began telling those old mountain stories to school children, and using the old hill talk. The rest is history - not yet....After a lot of travels I ended up in Texas, and so loved being back south.....But I'm not there now, but hey, down home is down home, and here seems to be where it's at!
