how does it feel to be swept aside
like so much moss in the dirt
have you been gripped by foolish pride
to not know how much it can hurt
you rejected what I had to say
without a warning or sign
it feels just like the darkest day
when my love became a crime
when did I foolishly appear
to be insignificant
enough for you not to have me near
like I was a sycophant
you're not so good from where I stand
not like I thought you would be
my heart rested on shifting sand
when I hoped about you and me
so now I see how you really are
not caring if I ever lived
now I'll never love from afar
such fantasies never could give
it's probably better for me to know
delusions must whither away
before I allow another to grow
where love turned into decay

Why is this demarcation between the emotional lives of the sexes so tangible? It's mostly cultural within Western Civilization, though other cultures also seem to teach that men channeling their emotions through violence is somehow preferable to the crying man in the diner. And I only count one person enjoying my poem, at least publicly.
Move away if you must, Lee. I don't mind all that much if you do.
