I have heard many stories about my family over the years. One of my favorites is about my uncle Willard. His family called him Buster (each of my aunts and uncles had family nick name).
Buster’s family owned a farm in Texas and they spent many hours in the field. One day after watching his father work the fields he asked him what he was doing.
“Planting corn” said his father.
“Why?” asked Buster.
His father went on to explain that when you plant a few kernels of corn you could grow more. Then you would have enough to feed you own family plus enough left over to sell so you could buy other things.
Now Buster thought this over for a while when an idea suddenly came to him. He raced into the house and grabbed his jar of buffalo nickels and headed for the fields.
His father saw him coming back from the fields with his empty jar and asked him what he was doing.
“Planting nickels so I can grow more” said Buster.
While he may not have grown more nickels his family did however, harvest buffalo nickels from the field for many years to come!

Oh if it were only that easy!
We used to take our jar of money to the front porch to count it every couple of days and each day we would drop a few accidently between the cracks of the porch. When they tore down the old homeplace, the found alot of old coins.
Hey David, I too had an Uncle Buster....who lived on a farm in Texas. Was this farm you speak of in the Amarillo area?????
This comment and rating of your older gather content was an idea Steve the Legend had on how to give a Christmas gift to our Gather connections. He posted an article with the suggestion of going back and viewing content from before we werre connected. You are the 22nd connection I have done this with so far, David. Here's hoping you have a very happy holiday.
