Amy, thank you. It's a hidden illness and some sufferers are adept at keeping it that way. Friends and relatives can so easily fall into the trap of blaming themselves needlessly. Very sad poem that uses this poignant image of succumbing to the disease to promote awareness of depression as a major problem. This one left me a little despondent, but that is because I have lost two friends to depression, both suicides, and these memories are painful.
