Last weekend was opening of ski season at Snowridge, Pocono Mountains, PA. The snow right now is being made by the "Big Gun" snow making machines which are new this year.

It looks funny seeing part of the landscape and slopes with snow and the rest brown and dry. Only the beginner and intermediate slopes are open for now.
The weather hasn't been cooperating so some of the snow has been melting but there have still been snow boarders and skiiers out for the first weekend of the season.

Looks inviting doesn't it? I don't ski but love to walk down to the slopes which are about five minutes from our townhouse at Snowridge Village in the Pocono Mountains, PA.
We usually rent out for the winter but this year we decided to experience our winter weekends at Snowridge. Of course, as luck would have it, the weather hasn't been very cooperative and some of the snow has already melted and this past weekend they couldn't make snow since it wasn't cold enough. Weather reports show that this mild spell will last right up to Christmas. Usually there is snow in the area by now. I think there has been one very light snow fall so far this winter.
We will be spending Christmas and New Years there. We live on a pond and they have luminaries for New Year's Eve. This will be the first experience for us.
If you ever get the chance to go to the Pocono Mountains in Pennsylvania, be sure to visit Jack Frost Mountain and Big Boulder for some great skiing, snow boarding and tubing.

But I love the look and view of the slopes.
I live just miles from Blue Mountain in PA.
I love driving by and watching them making the snow.
