Hi,
I just finished a batch of lotion bars and they did come out nice, they're rose. The next batch is on the stove, as I NEVER use a microwave for melting anything.
This is the recipe I just used. I cannot remember if I gave it to you or not, so here ya go... besides, I changed an oil in the one I just made.
Nice and Rich Lotion Bars
3 oz beeswax (grated)
2 oz mango butter
1 oz almond oil
1 oz jojoba oil
1 oz hemp oil (refined) <I subbed calendula oil, it was easier to find in this place than the hemp! lol>
Essential oils or oil. <I used rose essential oil>
.5% of Preservative - LiquiPar Optima
Melt beeswax on low heat. When melted add the mango butter. Remove from heat when mango is melted.
Add the other oils, and mix together. Add your essential oils and preservative, and/or coloring. Mica (cosmetic grade may also be used)
Pour into your deodorant tubes and let set completely.
I'm making these kind of last as I've run out of just about every container and have to see if I can get more in with time to make more goodies. I haven no idea how I underestimated so badly, but I did! I made half a dozen of these to start and they're nice and skin-softening. I do like this recipe.
So, for the last minute gifts, these are nice :) I got the lotion bar containers at www.elementsbathandbody.com and she does have different sizes but I stuck with the half ounce size. And I do like it.
Have fun :) I have my second batch going and I can't decide whether it'll be Spearmint or Sandalwood... but I do have enough containers and other "stuff" for at least one more, so maybe both?

I ended up using all of my containers and have an order in for more - made both sandalwood and spearmint and the reason that the large companys don't use natural therapeutic grade essential oils, in my opinion, is that the synthetic fragrances, while not good for you, are a heck of a lot cheaper, though you'd think it would show in their selling prices!
One thing about the lotion bars is that, if you get the half ounce size containers, you'll make a few at least in one recipe and also they're so easy to make. Then there's the fact that they're not seen in stores, so people have something new to play with!
I want to make Lavender still and maybe Patchouli, .... the sandalwood came out nice, but I love sandalwood - this one was a blend of ylang-ylang II (third distillation, and ylang-ylang means Flower of Flowers), so it's not quite as sweet as the first two distills, and sandalwoods, 5 of them - 2 from India, 2 from Australia, and one from Africa, and the scent is one I really like - I've already made the perfume oil to go with it. (yes, I ran out of those bottles too!!!! LOL)
