Spam and pudding are two things you may not have put together on your own, but one of our listeners brought the pairing to our attention. We'll ask Linda Absher, a reference librarian at the Portland State University, if SPAM fits the definition of pudding.

The Inspiration for this Story: A listener from Madison Heights, Maine sent us this e-mail.
This afternoon, a librarian friend was telling me about a strange question put to the reference desk: What is pudding, exactly? The follow-up question was whether SPAM is technically pudding. The librarians decided it fit all the criteria they could come up with.
We told a few more stories, walked out of the gallery, and said our goodbyes. I got into my car, turned on the radio, and heard your story about burritos and sandwiches. Thought I should mention the SPAM thing.
