Little brother, little brother
you grew up so quickly,
In an instant, I had to look up to you.
The Universe had it's reasons
To take you away
On my birthday
Why did you ride so fast?
What was it about speed
That made you do it?
I couldn't even go down there
Where you took your last breath.
But afterwards, I saw the drops of blood
Where your heart beat no more.
I even took pieces
of that damned motorcycle
and pieces of the wooden fence
That took you from us.
Just splinters.
With your blood.
A year, then two, then five
That night is still fresh
But your memory is fresher still.
You made us all laugh
Made us angry.
Made us fear for you.
I miss you, Scott
You changed my life forever.
Your death, as your life has
made an impact on us all.

This poem makes me sad, and also loving!
Sad because I know that one never gets over a sudden loss...and a sibling is supposed to be around as long as you are!! It is life all backwards.
But you convey such love towards him that I feel it as well. I believe that he is with you every minute of every day......This poem is from your heart where he lives.
Warmly, Miriam
