Happy Holidays From the Sensual Seasons and Two Word Challenge Groups! Since I (Monica Kennedy) am the owner of both of these groups, I thought it would be fun to have a combined challenge for both of these groups for the holiday season. The combined challenge will be to use the provided holiday Two Words and the technique of the sensual seasons challenge together to create an original post. This post can be an image, poem, story, article . . . As long as you complete both parts of the challenge, anything goes!
Now, first let me explain each group so everyone will fully understand this special challenge. The whole "Two Word" concept began on Feb 1st, 2006 when David L wrote the poem, If I Gave You Just Two Words. This poem was designed to challenge every Gather member to take just two words and interpret them in writing and share them with us all. This challenge quickly took off and has provided a lot of inspiration and reading enjoyment for many Gather members.
The Two Word Challenge Rules:
Each Sunday the Challenger will post an article naming the Two Words for the week (past examples: Bottled Promise, Sibling Torture, Fuzzy Edges, Coddled Sanity). The challenge is to post an article, poem, story, picture . . . somehow using the announced "two words" as closely as challenged (Bottled Promises, Sibling's Torture, Fuzzy Edge, Coddle Your Sanity all accepted varioations, but try to use the words as issued). It's as simple as that!
Post your entry to the Two Word Challenge Group (and to all of Gather too, if you like) and tag the article with 'two words' and then the current two words, like this:
"two words", "fuzzy edges" or whatever that week's Two Words are...
All Two Word Challenges need to be kept PG to permit everyone to participate. Interpretations of the Two Words not PG are fine, as long as you mark your article appropriately.
The Sensual Seasons Challenge was first issued to my group, Poetically Incorrect, but when I realized that the challenge could apply to multiple writing and art forms, I created its own group.
The Sensual Seasons Group Rules:
Each season offers a variety of things - from beauty to less enjoyable things. I challenge you to write a poem, fictional or non-fiction piece encompassing aspects of a season- but covering all five senses as well:
taste
smell
sight
hearing
touch
In the piece, the specific season does not have to be mentioned, but obviously aspects of nature will need to be discussed. All five senses must be covered.
With the five senses - you do not hae to say bluntly - I hear a bird, I smell roses . . . You can say "The chirping of birds were my alarm clock." Or "The salt in the air burned my nose."
So, now that you understand the background of the two separate challenges, let me go ahead and issue the special challenge now! Your Two Words are: (choose one set of two words)
Holiday Blunder
Mistletoe Mischief
Christmas Miracle
Stocking Surprise
Calgon Christmas
Ornament Memories
Elf Antics
Desperate Elfwives
Holiday Overload
Angel’s Song
Now remember to use at least one set of two words and cover all five senses when participating in this challenge. When you post your entry, uses the tags Sensual Holiday TWC and the two words you are using in your challenge. Example: Sensual Holiday TWC, Angel’s Song. Post your entry to the Two Word Challenge and Sensual Seasons groups, as well as any other appropriate groups (see groups this was posted to for ideas on appropriate groups). Have fun and have a blessed holiday season!
There is no time limit for this challenge - enjoy it throughout the holiday season!

Serina - I think writer's block is going around, cause I have had it too. Now since I challenged in such a big way, I have to step up and give the writer's block the boot! Have fun and I look forward to seeing your response!
Dawn - I do too! I miss when there were lots of responses to these challenges and maybethis will jump start it again!
LOL Kathryn - Yes, if you want you can do just the TWC, but I encourage you to TRY the sensual part too - push yourself! I'll be your cheerleader!! Go Kathryn! You can do it! Yay Kathryn! Someone as talented as you can surely figure out both challenges in one! You go girl!
Mandi - Can you hear my evil laughter? I'll get you my pretty! Ahahahahahahahahahaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa! And you little dog too! Yes, that's right - little dogs must do the challenge too! LOL Thanks for offering up your groups - if I can remember all that are yours I'll add them. Feel free to advertise this to your groups too!
Some good ones in that list. "Desperate Elfwives" was funny and "Calgon Christmas" appeals to me in warm-fuzzy and comedic ways.
Not that I'll get to writing any of them, but I wanted to express my pleasure in reading the list. Thanks, Monica.
ok, Mon, let's see what the ole grey matter can come up with here. (no breath-holding though..)
Carolyn - I know I could very easily pass out waiting on your grey matter - ROFL! You know I love ya, and anything you write is WORTH WAITING FOR!
