I was more partial to the 70s of my life but I did grow up in the 80s too so...
Top 10 80s memories.....for Honey!
1) Jelly shoes -
I had a love/hate relationship with them. They were cute but made your feet sweat!
2) Thrift Store Creations -
This may apply only to me, I don't know. A lot of people had excess money but I was not the one. Sooo. I went to the thrift for my crinolines, bustiers, retro clothes, big jewlery, tons of bracelets, pill box hats.....you name it.
3) Aqua Net -
I don't know about the rest of you folk but for big 80s hair in the south....aqua net was the solution. Although I shellacked a fly to wall with Kenra Spritzer
4) Koolaid colored hair -
I liked it, my mom didn't
5) Fishnets -
looked with the cute lace up ankle boots and thrift store creations. And as it was the 80s....it was all good if you had holes in them
6) Perfume Beasts (Yash has given me the name of these creatures) -
They would wear Liz, Poison, Opium all these heavy perfumes. I was still wearing Love's Baby Soft.
7) Weird and disaffected had its place.....and I was so there.
8) Video Games I remember missle command specifically
9) Oh fine, For sure, Totally, Tubular, Rad, Like..., Gag me with a spoon, Word up, and other fine examples of the English language
10 ) MTV
Ok my list sucks...some one....HONEY...gimme a hand

Neon Colored cothing.
Leg warmers.
I used to wear the lacy fish net anklets over my panty hose, with high heels and a mini skirt. I was HOT! Sure wish I had a photo of that look.
And I remember neon everything and the anklet socks. Totally for sure!
Poutine? Not so much....But I do remember Bob and Doug, eh!
But there were many bright spots as well.
La Bellota- please find and post pics :)
mini skirts with zippers on the sides
leg warmers with shorts and flashdance inspired sweatshirt
bandanas twisted into a headband (I had several colors)
All my jeans had zippers at the ankles
little black flats (shoes)
jelly shoes were great except they left those waffle marks on my feet...not attractive!
If you can believe it...this is the era that made me fall in love with Elvis. I was into everything 50's.
I remember those things!!!
I also remember I felt defiant because I refused to give up my green herbal essences shampoo for the paul mitchells. They don't make herbal essences anymore.....the green kind with the picture of a lady with flowers and wildlife in her hair....i
Elvis is totally timeless......Did you see my Elvis pic in my images??
Remember it had pink, blue, and hot pink scents.
Now I just need to hear Do They Know its Christmas? by Band Aid and my holiday transformation will be complete!
The toughest black-leather-jacket bully chick in our entire high school used to wear a pink Love's Baby Soft t-shirt that read "I'm Baby Soft" on a regular basis. It kind of turned me off on the stuff.
Then again, I was living in podunk at the time.
*clears throat*
It's Christmas time, There's no need to be afraid....
At Christmas time, we let in light and we banish shame....
*puts on Boy George wig*
And in our world of plenty, we spread a smile of joy
Throw you arms around the world at Christmas time.....
OK guys....somebody be the other George!
oooh now it's Stings turn!
But when you're having fun
There's a world outside your window
And it's a world of dread and fear..... come on errbody sing!!!
I would love to say that nothing came between me and my calvins....but even when i was a wee tiny thing....I have always had a ghetto booty. too much junk in the trunk.
Although....i had a pair of Jordache....that I dyed purple....and carried needle nose pliers to zip them up.
My lower half would be purple from dye or lack of circulation....not sure which.
It is a wonder i have kids today
Once when I was home from college I came upstairs all dolled up to go out in my Calvin Klein jeans. My brother, teasing, said "Nothing comes between her and her Calvins".
My father looks me up and down, raises one eyebrow, and in a gruff voice says "And she just better keep it that way, too!".
He was totally serious.
*Where the only water flowing...is the bitter STING of tears...
And the Christmas bells that ring
There are the clanging chimes of doom
Well tonight thank God it's them instead of you
Yep.....Nobody got between me an my calvins/jordache...not even air.
Where was J Lo in the 80s.....This sister needed help
