1 - Satin Jackets......I wanted one so bad.
2 - Roller skating.......and Pom poms for my skates.
3 - My neighbor getting in trouble for ripping her jeans (purposely). Father worried about what people would think.
4 - The Bicentennial - I lived in SC and Menriv(?) Library had a contest. Read 76 books get a certficate. I was darned proud of my certificate and had it in my mind that it made me a "patriot"
5 - I remember being afraid and respectful of crossing the street.
6 - I was afraid that Helter Skelter and his band of Hippies were coming to a house near me.....in Virginia.
7 - I remember loving to go out and play all day and night. My mom left me a cup by the spigot outside so I would not waste energy running inside and out. We had to save energy....again I felt like a patriot.
8 - I gave a hoot and didn't pollute.
9 - I did loads of personal research on how many licks does it take to get to the middle of a tootsie pop. The world may never know.
10 - I remember my green/yellow/pink half apple bell bottom pants that reminded me of my dad's beatles singles......and oh yeah, I was 6 year old foxy with those pants.

In A Gadda Da Vida!
Yeah that was great.. it was the late 70's and early 80's when I was a kid, but still it was safe.. no worry about child molester, kidnappers.. etc,,,, what has happened to this world??
My roller skates were ultra cool cause I had the satiny white covers for them, like the ice skaters!
What about those dual colored Dolphin shorts, one side blue, one side white??
There was one summer that we all wore those pretty beaded with colorful feathers 'roach clips' in our hair...I never figured out what those things were really made for until I was MUCH older!!
Vicky - I remember them but I wasn't allow to wear them (the not allowed to wear list was long. I was hip and cool for the 70s....the 1870s)
Honey, my baby! I don't remember Ditto jeans. I was wearing Sears. You did have ultra cool skates. I wasn't allowed to wear roach clips either....and i did not understand why....until much later. I remember the ripped jeans neighbor gave me one for my hair once.....I treasured it. I kept it in a pringles can in my secret spot. I would wear it but one day my mom came home and saw it in my hair and it ended badly. I wish they would come back....I would love to wear feathers in my hair. :)
that sounded a little bad... lol

Speaking of Ronco (a Minnesota based company), anybody remember the Popeil Pocket Fisherman?
Sigh. Rollerskating. The "Snowball". Barry Manilow singing "Mandy", the Bay City Rollers singing S-A-T-U-R-D-A-Y NIGHT, and Sweet doing "Fox On The Run". Those were the days!
Let's see: Nixon, Walter Cronkite, Led Zeppelin, Bachman Turner Overdrive (only because I hated to see the Guess Who break up and reform as such a lousey band), bell bottoms, CD radios, the Thing, Navajo tacos, MD 20-20, bong competitions.
Auntie do you remember "Shooting the Duck?"
