1. i remember going to the Sears when I was maybe 4 or 5. I wanted to buy a baby Cookie Monster. My father said I could have that or pick a gift for my new baby sister. I got her a bright yellow Big Bird, because he was yellow and it was my favorite color. (To my 4/5 year old mind, my favorite color would make her happy) She had him a long time. i wonder if she remembers.
2. My dad told me he liked the avon perfume decanter things. I got him one that looked like a fish because he liked fishing. I thought I had the best present ever.
3. I remember my mom cooking rolls or something doughy. I stole a little piece and made a tortilla to give to my gerbils for Christmas at my great peril...I had to climb on top of the washing machines to get to the cages.

When I bought my little brother Candyland. I used my own money that I got from babysitting and couldn't wait for him to open it. I think I was 13 and he was 5.
A collectors plate of basketball player Kevin Johnson for my Grandmother. She cheered when she opened it and got so excited. I remeber the distinct look on my Uncle's face because she hadn't acted nearly as thrilled with his gift and yet he'd spent a lot more!
Three years ago I gathered all of the picture of family I could find and had them out on disc to a few songs that my Mom loved...She loves to look at the disc and laugh and cry...It was the perfect gift for her and I loved giving it to her.
Years ago I had a boyfriend and he was in a band...He wanted to sing but needed voice lessons so for Christmas I bought him a microphone and voice lessons...He loved the gift...(he never really could master singing though)...lol
