Why on the journey of self-actualization do we forget the true meaning behind why we, personally, are in this place, at this time? Why do we allow the outer ego-self to take over and bury the real 'you' or 'me' inside? I contemplated on this and similar questions last night before falling into deep sleep around 4 am.
Here is what I discovered: The ego developing from early childhood starts to pay more attention to authority, clergy, parents, siblings, peers, etc and this child is bombarded with other peoples views, reactions, behaviors, attitudes etc that conversation with the self seems almost intangible. Too much 'noise' from the external factors that can help shape us but not necessarily make us, has us loosing touch with what is really important. Live closer to the spirit being you are rather than the ego-demon you have become and life will be that much simpler...unless you really love your ego ! and that is just psychological.

As far as God’s voice and message is involved , somebody said once “When you want something really bad and you close your eyes and wish for it-- God's the guy who ignores you.”
I am a pretty secular thinker myself but the quote above makes me smile…
