My Father in law has a big 24' pontoon boat. it is a lot of fun to fish from. But it doesn't fit well into the back coves and bays.
So my Brother in law and I made a 10' pontoon boat to fit our need to get into the weed filled bays Of Black Lake, NY.
We started by getting free foam from a tractor supply company. The company used them when shipping landscaping trailers. A perfect fit for our pontoon boat.
We built the frame work around the size of the foam. And Enclosed it with plywood and epoxy.
Then pontoons were placed on a flat boat trailer, squared up and decked with heavy plywood. The ply was painted and covered with carpert. you can not see in the photo, but there are crossbeams that support the floor and keep the pontoons apart and rigid.

The railings came from a fast food burger place. The one with the clown. It had been junked and we nabbed it for free. Here I am cleaning them and preparing them for paint.

Above, my rehab sailboat can be seen in the background. Once all the parts were on, the boat needed some paint. so I backed the trailer to a tree, stood it on its transom and painted.

After the painting, trim and seats were attached we are ready to go.

The Maiden voyage is scheduled for Spring 2007. We can't wait!!

I think you need a bigger boat
i saw a man in a tiny aluminum boat using a weed eater for trolling motor.
Great job, hope she meets or exceeds your expectations!
I'd like to see photos of the boat in action.....please post!!
