Sometimes, I just crack me up. I watched and listened to some really eye-opening documentaries today on the Discovery Times channel by Thomas Friedman, and thought they were so good that I would like to have them. So, I ordered them from the Discovery Channel site and I was having them sent to my friend in Idaho so that she and her husband could watch them too. When I Googled Friedman's name and his bio came up, I just had to laugh out loud. My Idaho friend had talked me into getting Friedman's book The World is Flat, months ago and I just had not read it yet. I really need to PAY ATTENTION sometimes. :::big sigh:::: I guess we all come to things in our own time.
In this brilliant new book, the award-winning New York Times columnist Thomas Friedman demystifies the brave new world for readers, allowing them to make sense of the often bewildering global scene unfolding before their eyes. With his inimitable ability to translate complex foreign policy and economic issues, Friedman explains how the flattening of the world happened at the dawn of the twenty-first century; what it means to countries, companies, communities, and individuals; and how governments and societies can, and must, adapt. The World Is Flat is the timely and essential update on globalization, its successes and discontents, powerfully illuminated by one of our most respected journalists. more
