snowy day on the farm

this past weekend, we were at my parents house. they live in an area with a lot of snow - lake effect, from lake michigan. it was gorgeous, white, and fluffy - the perfect way to kick off december! lillie made cookies with gramma, and the wood fires were burning - keeping us toasty warm!

 honestly, is there anything better than a quiet snowfall, on the farm? the peacefuness of country rhythms pervade the soul, soothing with familiar images and wildlife. come along - i know you've seen these familiar characters before - sweet allis, the tractor; the old green truck; the ever-present clothesline. a new snowfall makes it all new again.

Jessie...these are extraordinary photos of ordinary scenes. The macro shot of the clothespin really conveys the 'bite' of winter!
BTW your daughter is a cutie and that old (Farmall?) tractor is way cool!

Such beauty and elegance in these photos, Jessie. You have such a good eye, seeing the beauty in a frozen laundry clip, the berries and pine cones on the trees. I remember a similar photo from last winter when you visited your parents farm, too.

I always looove your photos, Jessie. I hope you make them into a coffee table book and sell it. !!!

"a new snowfall makes it all new again." Jessie, I wholeheartedly agree. I see things differently when I look at them after a snowfall if I don't have to drive in the snow. Things that I never considered beautiful are now beautiful. I notice nature's design patterns. A snowfall gives me new eyesight. As always, I appreciate seeing the world through your eyes, your words, your photos.

Beautiful photos Jessie......! I can't help but join the chorus.....I love your eye for detail in what most would consider insignificant.........the one of the clothes pin is great!....and of course, Lillie is as adorable as always.

Woman, you are just too dern talented - I love love love these as they tell me so much - what a precious and lovely old farm and girl, I hope you wear some UGGS or special snow shoes! I also think that picture of Lillie is one of the most beautiful I've seen of her. Usually she is smiling but in this one she is totally concentrating on her craft. thank you, everyone!! yes, sweet allis is an allis chalmers tractor - a good one!! thank you - and we gave the cookies to the firemen, who saved our house last year. LOVE feeding them!! thanks!
