Hi, Lori. Basically it's haiku (5,7,5) with a picture attached. The picture can be a juxtaposition of the haiku; it need'nt be a slavish image that represents the words. There is a good definition at the Haiga Group site as well as at Wikipedia

No offense taken. The "sentence" is Haiku. A poem. You can find the ancient Japanese form and our Gather site at Haiku. There is also an excellent article on haiku at Wikipedia. Hope this helps.
